Ancestry.co.uk, the world’s favourite family history website[i], has discovered a new living relative of U.S. President Barack Obama's living in Tipperary, Ireland.
Obama’s Irish roots were initially discovered by Ancestry researchers in 2007 and new research has just revealed another living Irish relative. 34-year-old Jennifer Carter [nee Donovan] is 4th cousins, twice removed from arguably the most powerful man in the world.
Jennifer is connected to Obama through her 3rd great grandparents, Fulmouth Donovan and Mary Benn, the president's 5th great grandparents and grandparents of Fulmouth Kearney, a known ancestor of Obama's from Moneygall, Ireland.
Echoing her presidential cousin's charitable ways, Jennifer and her parents, Tom Donovan and Angel (nee Bunbury), are keen philanthropists and recently raised money for handicapped children in the eastern European Republic of Moldova.
Ancestry.co.uk International Content Director Dan Jones comments: “Ancestry.co.uk member Jennifer is thrilled about her link to Obama and we in turn are delighted to be able to confirm this connection, days before his trip to Moneygall."
